Tim and I have returned after a week's absence for another edition of the Splash Page Podcast! In this week's episode we discuss: The future of the podcast, absolute/omnibus editions we'd like to see, euro/brit comics, disappointments, the best thing to happen to comics that isn't a comic, Vertigo Resurrected #1, Action Comics #894 and dated costumes, Avengers #6, Secret Avengers #6, Captain America #611, Incognito: Bad Influences #1, Secret Warriors #21, Scalped #42, and some closing thoughts. Re: eurocomics, a few recommendations:
Carlos Trillo has a large library of work. A few years ago IDW reprinted his series Chicanos, which was drawn by Eduardo Risso. It's about a short, unattractive female PI, and it's IMO a very nice mix of crime and dark comedy. There are two volumes.
Also recently Fantagraphics has been reprinting some of Jacques Tardi's work. West Coast Blues is a nice crime story with great art.
Lastly, give a look to The Killer by Matz and Luc Jackomon. There are two hardcover volumes out from Archaia with a third scheduled for December. It's about a hit man, in full color and is an excellent read.
Love the show, keep up the good work (even beyond episode 50).
