I recently reviewed The Playwright for CBR and, in the process, wrote the following sentences: "Originally partially serialized in the anthology DeeVee, The Playwright follows an unnamed playwright (referred to only as 'The Playwright') as he goes through his daily life, wallowing in loneliness and self-pity but producing fantastic works that win him critical acclaim and awards. The pacing goes in starts and stops, sometimes spending a long period of time on one moment before jumping all around on tangential paths to give us a strong concept of the Playwright’s life, and also the context into which he fits with other characters. Even though it seems like there isn’t a strict narrative plot, one exists and the payoff is something that all tortured artists fears, and is gotten to with such subtlety that it sneaks up on the reader."You can read the rest HERE!

Hey Chad, I'd love to hear a discussion of this on the podcast.
I browsed this at the shop today, but I didn't think it matched my tastes. But with your praise for it, I may check it out in a month that I'm not buying both Absolute Planetary books.
What made you check this out in the first place?
And speaking of graphic novels, have you read Wilson yet?
I'm a fan of Eddie Campbell's work and the pdf for this was available for reviewing purposes. I haven't actually seen a physical copy of it yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick one up at some point.
Same with Wilson -- haven't read it at all yet, sadly.
