CBR Review: Jersey Gods #3

I recently reviewed Jersey Gods #3 for CBR and, in the process, wrote the following sentences: "Dan McDaid’s art continues to wow with lots of energy. He delivers very strong work in this issue, adding dramatic tension in a lot of places. His close-up of Deltus in one panel is perfect, and he switches between cosmic god fights and banal human drama with ease. Actually, he seems to be injecting a lot of humanity into the gods plot and action into the human-centric scenes. The two worlds and styles are clearly bleeding into one another with great results."

CBR Review: Jersey Gods #2

I recently reviewed Jersey Gods #2 for CBR and, in the process, wrote the following sentences: "The meeting of Barock, the god, and Zoe, the human, isn’t nearly as charming or romantic here as it would be in flashbacks where the affection for and knowledge of the characters would add extra emotional weight. However, since we know the two will get married and don’t yet have an emotional connection with them, the scenes border on tedious. The series was pitched to the world as a sitcom-like premise, but isn’t designed like one, preferring to focus on the building war between gods, and Zoe’s job."

CBR Review: Jersey Gods #1

I recently reviewed Jersey Gods #1 for CBR and, in the process, wrote the following sentences: "Jersey Gods #1 is a charming read, but not quite what was promised —- yet. The solicitation for this issue promotes the story of a cosmic god that’s married to a Jersey girl and lives three doors down from his in-laws. The high concept pitch screams Jack Kirby meets Everybody Loves Raymond. The actual first issue is all set-up and getting to the point where Barock (the god) and Zoe (the Jersey girl) marry and live the wacky sitcom life of the solicitations. Not that there’s anything wrong with that."
