I recently reviewed Chew #6 for CBR and, in the process, wrote the following sentences: "I’d heard good things about Chew but, honestly, the concept didn’t strike me as one with legs. A detective that eats things to learn their histories? 'That’s a good one-off idea,' I thought, 'but not one that can sustain an ongoing series.' So, when the chance to review the first issue in the book’s second story (aka the one where the concept falls flat after the novelty is gone) came up, I jumped at it if only to prove to myself that I am, like always, right in all things."You can read the rest HERE!

So the fact that I've been praising it for the first five issues left no impression on you? I may cry. You're dead to me, Nevett!!!! You and all your Canadian ilk!!!!!
And I quote, "I'd heard good things about Chew..." Right there, first thing in the review! Plus, I admitted I was wrong. When do I ever do that?
Fine. I guess I'll let you slide. But I'm watching you ...
I'm glad you checked it out, especially after the initial novelty wore off. I too was worried about it being an ongoing, but it seems that Layman has a bunch of neat ideas, so it's cool that the book gained a convert!
By the way, I talked to John Layman tonight and he had read your review. He was pretty psyched to see that you enjoyed it.
Good stuff. I've always liked John -- he gave me feedback on a script once. Great guy.
